AirUCI lab tours for Science Saturday

Event Date:
Saturday, March 16, 2019

On Saturday, March 16th, AirUCI graduate students Natalie Smith and Vahe Baboomian, both in the Nizkorodov research group, participated in Science Saturday on the UCI campus.  They gave lab tours and demonstrations to 45 middle school students as a part of a three-part tour where the students visit UCI's chemistry, engineering, and biology departments.  They showed the students what aerosols are and where they come from, followed by having them make some aerosols using limonene and an air purifier that emits ozone.  They finished off the tour by showing the students our aerosol smog chamber and having them analyze their own breath samples using a PTR-MS to see what gases are emitted when we breathe.
