On February 28th, AirUCI will sponsor a P-Chem talk given by longtime AirUCI collaborator Alla Zelenyuk-Imre from PNNL (hosted by Sergey Nizkorodov). The talk is entitled "Laboratory and Field studies of Isoprene-derived Secondary Organic Aerosol (SOA)"and will be held from 3:30 - 4:30 in Rowland Hall room 104.

2023
AirUCI is pleased to host the 2023 Science Olympiad in Rowland Hall room 360 on Saturday, February 25th. This event is organized by UC Irvine Chemistry Professor Kim Edwards in conjunction with similar events across the country.
On February 9, AirUCI faculty Celia Faiola invites everyone to a special colloquium presented by Prof. Daniel Whiteson, who is well known for his expertise in communicating science to the public. The event will be held in Rowland Hall room 101 at 3:30 pm and is also available via Zoom. Details

On January 31, 2023, EcoGovLab, GREEN-MPNA, and AirUCI hosted an Environmental Justice Stakeholder Meeting in Santa Ana with over 100 attendees and 25 Zoom participants, including residents, AirUCI researchers (DOJ sub-group), elected officials, and government agencies. Presentations were given on collaborative efforts to characterize and address Santa Ana’s cumulative pollution burden. Read the article
On January 31st, AirUCI's AAAR Student Chapter will host a winter social, 'Coffee Fixes Everything', where the members can come together and interact about their research. Open to students, postdocs, and researchers, the event will be held in Rowland Hall room 390 from 3-5 pm.
On January 18th, AirUCI will host a special seminar presented by Professor Man Nin Chan of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The talk will be held at 3:30 in Rowland Hall room 390 and via Zoom. The title of the talk is "Transformation Kinetics and Chemistry of Organosulfates in Atmospheric Aerosols through Heterogeneous Oxidation – Coupling to Aerosol Sulfate".
The Beyond the Tailpipe team within AirUCI was planning to hold its annual faculty retreat in Carlsbad, California from Friday, January 6th through Sunday, January 8th, but this event has been postponed until Spring 2023. This will be a chance to review our efforts over the first year and to plan our projects and events for the final year of the grant. Details TBA.

While on a visit to UCI hosted by AirUCI faculty Celia Faiola, Drs. Molteni and Pieber, both postdoctoral fellows with the Swiss National Science Foundation, will present a joint research seminar entitled "Stress-modulated volatile organic compound emissions by coniferous and broadleaf trees." This event will take place on December 15th, 2022 at 10 am in Nat Sci I Rm 1114. From December 12th through 15th, 2022, AirUCI's partner organization APEP will present 'Hydrogen: Fueling the Sustainable Future - ICEPAG'. Now in its 22nd year as one of the world's leading conferences on clean energy, ICEPAG is presented annually by the Advanced Power and Energy Program (APEP) held in a hybrid in-person / virtual format for 2022. APEP addresses the development and deployment of efficient, environmentally sensitive, sustainable power generation and energy conversion worldwide, with several AirUCI faculty as founders and directors of the component centers and labs. ...
