AirUCI faculty Alex Guenther will speak at the UCI Physical Sciences Breakfast Lecture Series on January 23, 2018.  The lecture will be held at the UCI Student Center, Pacific Ballroom D from 7:30–9:00 am, and his talk is entitled, "Do Trees Pollute the Air?"

On Friday, January 19, 2018 at 4:00 pm, AirUCI Fulbright Scholar Jonathan Abbatt will present a lecture in the Jenkins Room (Croul Hall 3101) entitled "Aerosol in the Arctic Summertime: Particle Formation and Growth, Clouds, and Melting Sea Ice".  All are invited.  Arctic Haze is a well known springtime phenomenon wherein high levels of aerosol are prevalent in polar regions due to efficient transport and slow deposition.  This talk will contrast Arctic Haze to the case of summertime Arctic aerosol where new field measurements demonstrate that particle nucleation and growth are common,...

AirUCI is hosting a graduate student, Pablo Corral Arroyo, from the Paul Scherrer Institut where he is working on multiple projects in the research group of Markus Ammann, a frequent AirUCI collaborator. On November 16 at 1 pm in Rowland Hall room 390, Pablo will be giving a talk entitiled, "Feedbacks between atmospheric aerosol microphysics and aerosol aging induced by photochemistry of iron complexes."

AirUCI faculty Alex Guenther is organizing a Long-term Biosphere/Atmosphere Chemical Flux Workshop on the future of atmospheric chemistry research to be held at the Beckman Center on November 13-14, 2017.  The workshop is hosted by AirUCI and funded by NSF, and the objective is for the scientific community to discuss strategies for developing an international effort to investigate biosphere-atmosphere chemical exchange across key ecosystems and develop innovative observational instruments and approaches that transform the community capabilities for quantifying comprehensive, long-term...

Sergey Nizkorodov, co-Director of AirUCI, will speak to a delegation from the Université Côte d’Azur (UCA) in France on Thursday, September 7th.  UCI and UCA are strategic partners in the UCA JEDI program with various programmatic collaborations. AirUCI faculty Manabu Shiraiwa is hosting a group of Japanese high school students and their advisors in a week-long event that will introduce them to some of our air pollution research and other projects.  In addition to science topics, they will learn about business, government, education, and general life experiences in Orange County.

AirUCI faculty Manabu Shiraiwa, along with co-investigator and fellow AirUCI faculty Doug Tobias, will be hosting a launch meeting for their new indoor air quality modeling consortium project funded by the Sloan Foundation.  The two-day event will be held in Rowland Hall room 390.

AirUCI faculty Manabu Shiraiwa and Doug Tobias will host the kick-off event for the MOdelling Consortium for Chemistry of Indoor Environments (MOCCIE), a new modelling consortium within the Alfred P.
