AirUCI faculty Filipp Furche will deliver the Physical Chemistry seminar on November 6th at 3:30 in Rowland Hall room 104.  The title of his talk is, "New Methods for Computational Photochemistry."

AirUCi faculty Celia Faiola will present a Pchem seminar on Tuesday, October 30th at 3.30 pm in Rowland Hall room 104.  Talk title TBD.

AirUCI will host one of our collaborators, Dr. Christian George of the Centre National de la recherche Scientifique (IRCELYON) in Lyon, France on October 23rd, 2018.  He will be giving a lecture at 1 pm in Rowland Hall room 390, and his talk is entitled "Photochemical organosulfates and reactive organic species production at the air/water interface".

On October 19th, AirUCI faculty Manabu Shiraiwa will host representatives from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) for discussions and research exchange on health effects of air pollution, including vehicle-emitted pollutants.  They will be speaking in Rowland Hall room 390 starting at 3 pm.

AirUCI faculty Sergey Nizkorodov and Jim Smith will meet with Dr. Debra Meyer, Executive Dean of Science from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday, October 15.  She will meet with additional AirUCI faculty, hear about our research, and tour some of our labs.

AirUCI faculty Jack Brouwer spoke at Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio on October 3, 2018 for the 18th annual Ohio Fuel Cell Symposium.  He made the case that, while wind and solar farms are generating clean power at lower and lower prices, it's not always when the energy is needed.  Fuel cells could change that equation, eliminating the need for large coal and nuclear power plants and leading to a zero-emissions electric grid.  Read the article
 

Event Date: Thu, 09/27/2018 to Fri, 09/28/2018

AirUCI faculty Annmarie Carlton is hosting a workshop on deep learning in multiphase chemistry in conjunction with the U.S. Army.  The event is to be held at the Beckman Center September 27-28, 2018 and will focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning, which lend themselves to chemical discovery in this area. U.S. Army scientist Dr. Laura Krnavek will meet with AirUCI's Finlayson-Pitts research group and tour our labs on September 26, 2018.

Event Date: Mon, 09/24/2018 to Wed, 09/26/2018

AirUCI will once again host a research retreat for the graduate students, postdocs, project scientists, and researchers in our institute.  The two-day retreat will be held at the Lake Arrowhead Conference Center from September 24-26, 2018 with transportation provided to and from UCI.  Attendees will give presentations and participate in discussions about ongoing research projects.  Past retreats have yielded new collaborations and new research ideas that have greatly benefited AirUCI as well as the individual attendees.  To register for this event, please contact...
