On May 1st at 11 am in Rowland Hall room 390, AirUCI will host a talk by Professor Yoshizumi Kajii of Kyoto University.  The title of the lecture is:  “OH Reactivity Measurements Under Several Environments and Unknown Reactive Species in Air”.

Several AirUCI researchers attended the 32nd annual International Symposium for Kinetics and Photochemical Processes in the Atmosphere (ISKPPA) which was held at CSU Northridge on April 3rd, 2015.  Our group gave talks at the symposium and presented posters illustrating our research.

AirUCI will host Dr. Matt Coggon of the Seinfeld group at Caltech in a talk entitled "Laboratory Observations of Heterogeneous Aerosol Processes" on March 30, 2015 at noon in RH 390.

AirUCI’s partner institute, the Advanced Power and Energy Program (APEP), is hosting two back-to-back conferences this month:

On February 11, 2015 AirUCI will host a lecture by Prof. Mary Shultz of Tufts University entitled "Collective Modes and Growth at the Single Crystal Ice Surface."  The talk will be held at noon in Rowland Hall 390.

On February 9th, Dr. Xiao-Xing Yu of Pacific Northwest National Lab will present a talk entitled "In situ probing of environmental liquid surfaces and interfaces using microfluidics: Toward multimodal and mesoscale imaging."  The talk will be held at noon in Rowland Hall room 390.

Dr. Daniel Knopf of SUNY Stony Brook will give a lecture entitled "The Role of Phase State and Interface in Ice Nucleation and Multiphase Chemical Kinetics" at noon on January 26, 2015 in Natural Sciences 2 room 1201.

As part of the Eminent Lecture Series presented by the UCI Department of Chemistry, AirUCI Director Barbara Finlayson-Pitts will give a talk entitled "Air Pollution, Acid Rain, And Climate Change: Perspectives from the Past and Future Challenges."  The lecture will be held on January 22, 2015 at 4:00 pm at the Donald Bren Hall room 6011.  A reception will follow.  To attend, please RSVP by January 19th at www.chem.uci.edu/ELS.

Dr. James Smith of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado will present a lecture at noon on Tuesday, January 20th in Natural Sciences 2 room 1201.  The talk is entitled "Understanding the chemical processes that affect growth rates of atmospheric nanoparticles."

AirUCI researchers will make a virtual classroom visit to C. E. Utt Middle School in Tustin, California on Wednesday, January 7th.  Utt chemistry teachers Kristina Posavec and Ian Williamson will preside over seven periods of chemistry classes during the whole day, while AirUCI team members give presentations on our research and answer student questions via Skype.  We'll also present a virtual lab tour showing students our advanced equipment and giving them a taste of our experiments.  At least 14 AirUCI team members will participate in this outreach, from undergraduates to grad students...
