AirUCI will host a seminar by Prof. Geoff Smith of the University of Georgia to be held at 3:30 in Rowland Hall room 390.  His talk is entitled "What color are atmospheric aerosols? Development of a novel UV-vis aerosol absorption spectrophotometer."

AirUCI will host a special seminar on Tuesday, March 4 by Professor Ivar Isaksen from the University of Oslo entitled "Chemistry-Climate Interactions Involving Ozone and Methane."  The lecture will be held at 11:30 am in Rowland Hall 390.

Event Date: Wed, 02/19/2014

AirUCI will host Dr. Liz Warren, an expert on the International Space Station, on February 19th at 10 am in Rowland Hall 390.  She will speak to our researchers about opportunities to conduct studies in space as part of outreach efforts for NASA's 2014 Destination Station national awareness campaign in the Los Angeles area.  For details on this outreach, visit the Destination Station site.

Astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson will give a public presentation at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 18th at the Beckman Auditorium on campus.  A postdoctoral researcher with AirUCI Director Barbara Finlayson-Pitts and co-Director John Hemminger, Dr. Caldwell Dyson was conducting research here when she learned that she had been accepted into the astronaut corps.  She'll be speaking on her experiences aboard the space shuttle Endeavour and the International Space Station.  For more information, contact Melissa Sweet at 949-824-2628.   ...

AirUCI's 10th annual international science workshop will be held at the Surf and Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach, California from January 22 - 23, 2014.  Invited speakers and AirUCI researchers will give presentations on the latest findings in chemistry in the atmosphere and at interfaces.

Event Date: Wed, 12/18/2013

On Wednesday, December 18th, AirUCI will host a lecture by Dr. Shao-Meng Li of Environment Canada.  His talk, entitled "Heterogeneous uptake of gas phase ammonia and organics on sulfuric acid aerosols: laboratory studies reveal complex chemical processes," will be held in Rowland Hall 390 at 11 am.

On Tuesday, December 17th, AirUCI will host Dr. Theo Kurtin of the University of Helsinki, Finland.  He will give a talk entitled, "What Can Computational Chemistry Tell Us About Atmospheric New-Particle Formation" in Rowland Hall 390 at noon.
